The primary purpose of this application was to streamline and enhance the retrieval of critical product information, such as part numbers, specifications, and pricing, making the process faster and more efficient for the client. Our goal was to enable frictionless, real-time access to product data, significantly improving decision-making processes and customer experience.
The reason we at EBIW chose this method lies in the complexity and scale of the client’s operations. With a vast product catalogue and constantly evolving data, traditional search mechanisms were inadequate. By leveraging Azure AI tools and implementing a RAG architecture, we ensured that the system could handle large datasets, provide intelligent and contextually rich responses, and adapt to the dynamic nature of the automotive spare parts industry.
We achieved this through several technical innovations. First, we designed an advanced ingestion pipeline using Azure Storage and Data Lake, where product information is embedded, vectorised, and stored for enhanced discovery. To enrich this dataset, we employed dynamic web scraping techniques, utilizing json, requests, BeautifulSoup, and Playwright’s sync API. These tools allowed us to extract critical product data from the company’s website in real-time, even handling potential timeouts and errors with robust mechanisms like Timeout Error and time-based control.
Once a query is initiated, our system processes it dynamically, using vector embedding to perform intelligent similarity searches across the datasets. Powered by Azure AI tools, the system ensures that the most relevant information is retrieved and then synthesized by a Large Language Model (LLM) to deliver human-like responses, enriched with contextual data.
